EtherCAT Encoder


Absolute encoders MEM-BUS EtherCAT comply with Profile CANopen over EtherCAT (CoE), Cia DS-406.

Based upon Ethernet communication protocol, EtherCAT interface is steady, flexible and fast, specially suited to the communication among control systems and peripheral devices, such as I/O systems, drives, sensors and actuators.

EtherCAT operating principle – processing on the fly – enables a Real Time communicationbetween the Master and the Slave devices; it supports any topology – line, bus, tree, star – and a flexible number of nodes.

Reduced cabling and easy configuration – each slave is addressed automatically – simplify the installing operations.

MEM-Bus encoders are supplied in multiturn version with 29 bit resolution (8192 steps/revolution x 65536 revolutions).

Different mechanical versions are available to satisfy all application requirements: square flanged, round flanged with servo coupling, and with hollow shaft to couple directly to a motor shaft; all the types offer different options for the shaft/hole diameter. The electrical connection is by 3 M12 connectors.

The stout aluminium case ensures a high protection degree, so that it is possible to apply MEM-Bus encoders in severe industrial environments.

The innovative electronic construction technology – involving no mechanical gear –allows to reach high acceleration and speed values and grants the transducer long life.
